This past Saturday (Sept. 3), the hip-hop world was thrown into a frenzy when Lil Wayne hinted at retiring. "I AM NOW DEFENSELESS AND mentally DEFEATED & I leave gracefully and thankful I luh my fanz but I'm dun," he tweeted, seeming to reference his ongoing battle with Birdman and Cash Money. "Ain't lookin for sympathy, just serenity."

Rappers and producers quickly came to his aid with an outpouring of love and support, but there was one artist who stayed silent – Young Thug.

Until early this morning (Sept. 5), when Thugger hopped on Twitter to spill his feelings for Wayne.

"I promise I'm holding u down no matter what… fuck the world and what they thinkfeel I'm with u for life, ur the reason I rap," wrote Thug. "I just wish u could love me the way I love u big bro… ur my idol for life and I hope ur sorry for bashing me, not knowing how much I love u."

Their relationship has been a strange one for years now. Thug has always said Wayne is his favorite rapper and his No. 1 influence, but later seemed to antagonize Wayne by claiming he'd release Carter 5 and 6 before the N.O. rapper. Things got even more awkward when a member of Thug's camp shot up Lil Wayne's tour bus in what looked like an attempted assassination attempt. Thug and Weezy have hopped on a song together, "Take Kare," but their relationship still seems to be at arm's length.

Seems like Thug is being sincerely apologetic here. Read his tweets below.
