1 Dead, 1 In Critical Condition After 2 Women Fall 10 Stories From Hotel Window While ‘Play Fighting’

1 woman is dead and another is in critical condition after crashing through a window and falling 10 stories at the W Hotel in Midtown Atlanta. LaShawna Threatt, an aspiring model was celebrating her 30th birthday at the hotel fell to her death early this morning after friends say she was 'play-fighting' with another woman.The "other woman"--identified by mutual friends as Ciara Williams--is clinging on for dear life at Grady Memorial Hospital after both women crashed through a thick glass window and plunged 10 stories at approximately 3:15 this morning. According to multiple sources, the night began as a celebration for Threatt, with about 20 friends meeting at an Atlantic Station restaurant for a dinner celebrating her 30th birthday. Afterward, most of the group went to the W Hotel for a rooftop party where the tragic fall would eventually take place. Passionate Chonvill, a close friend of Threatt spoke with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and although she missed the party, confirmed from friends who were there that the two were just "playing around"

LaShawna is a mess, a silly goofball. She likes to playfight and tickle you. They had just gotten in the hotel and were having a good time," Chonvill said. "My friends who were there, said it was so random. They literally just fell out the window. They are two small girls and I am trying to figure out how the hell, two small girls could break a window like that.

Atlanta Police spokesperson Carlos Campos says that they are investigating the fall as an accident, but adds that the homicide unit has been requested to assist the death investigation.
