A new study takes a look beyond the box office to analyse the success of a film.
According to film researcher Dr. Livio Bioglio, his research team " developed an algorithm that uses references between movies as a measure for success, and which can also be used to evaluate the career of directors, actors and actresses, by considering their participation in top-scoring movies." The research team used the algorithm as well as data from IMDb to study movie's influence on the film industry.
