Acadian Superette Closing After 9 Years In Lafayette
After nearly a decade serving the Freetown neighborhood, Acadian Superette has officially announced it will be closing its doors.
Owner Dr. Robert Autin shared the news in a heartfelt message on social media, thanking the community for nine years of support while reflecting on the journey of transforming the space into one of Lafayette’s most unique dining spots.
What started as a passion project centered around food, creativity, and community quickly became a staple known for its atmosphere, inventive menu, and strong neighborhood ties.
Family And Future
In his message, Autin explained that the decision comes down to shifting priorities.
While the Superette allowed him to pursue his love for food, he says it is now time to refocus on his medical career and spend more time with his family. His two daughters, born during his time running the business, played a major role in that decision.
Autin also expressed gratitude to his team, including head chef Don Green, along with partners, employees, and longtime supporters who helped shape the restaurant’s identity.

Community Reaction Pours In
The announcement quickly generated hundreds of reactions online, with many expressing disbelief and heartbreak.
Comments ranged from simple shock like “PLEASE NO” and “This can’t be real,” to emotional tributes celebrating the restaurant’s impact.
Others chose to talk about their favorite menu items, from the Reuben and banh mi to garlic parmesan fries, with one customer writing, “What am I going to do?”
Some even called it “a sad day for the Lafayette food scene,” while others urged someone to step in and continue the legacy.
What Happens Next For The Space
Autin hinted that the location could live on through new ownership, saying it is time for someone else to bring fresh ideas into the space.
Many in the community echoed that hope, noting the prime location and strong foundation already in place.
For now, customers are making plans to return one last time, grabbing favorite meals and revisiting a place that, for many in Freetown and throughout Lafayette, became more than just a restaurant.
