And the Oxford Dictionaries’ Word of the Year Is…
The Oxford Dictionary announced it's 2015 "Word of the Year" and it is...
"An emoji". I've been waiting for "emoji" to be word of the year! Just kidding, but I do love emoji's, who doesn't?
So why is "emoji" the Word of the Year? The Oxford Dictionaries' press release stated that “Although emoji have been a staple of texting teens for some time, emoji culture exploded into the global mainstream over the past year ... Emoji have come to embody a core aspect of living in a digital world that is visually driven, emotionally expressive, and obsessively immediate.” Yep, that's pretty dead on. I send emoji's in almost every text, I mean, my mom is even using emoji's.
