Angelina Jolie Claims Brad Pitt Hasn’t Paid ‘Meaningful’ Child Support In Over a Year

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's ongoing divorce continues to get messier.

In a new court filing submitted on Tuesday (August 7), Jolie alleged Pitt hasn't paid any "meaningful" child support since their separation over a year and a half ago. According to a report from NBC, Jolie will seek a court order to force Pitt's hand.

"[Pitt] has a duty to pay child support. As of present, [Pitt] has paid no meaningful child support since separation," wrote Jolie's attorney, Samantha Bley DeJean, in a two-page brief filed in Los Angeles Superior Court and obtained by the outlet. "Given the informal arrangements around the payment of the children’s expenses have not been regularly sustained by [Pitt] for over a year and a half, [Jolie] intends to file an [request for a court order] for the establishment of a retroactive child support order.” Jolie’s team didn’t define what constituted as “meaningful” payment.

Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in 2016, citing irreconcilable differences. The two were married in 2014, and had been together for over a decade. They share six children together ranging in age from 9 to 16.

The couple's breakup has been quite public and, increasingly, thorny. Around the time news of their split surfaced, Pitt was accused of physically and verbally abusing one of his kids during a private flight. The incident was investigated by authorities, and Pitt has since been cleared of any wrongdoing.

Jolie currently has primary physical custody of her and Pitt's children, but was ordered by a court in June to allow Pitt to speak to his children whenever he wants and without her supervision. Pitt's lawyers have also claimed Jolie has compromised their kids' privacy through her court filings.
