New Iberia Police have given an update in their investigation into the death of a female Arby's employee who was found in the restaurant's walk-in freezer of the fast food restaurant.

On Thursday evening around 6:30 p.m., police received a report of a "deceased person" in the freezer of the Arby's restaurant located at 1120 East Admiral Doyle in New Iberia.

Initially, police described the death as suspicious, but in an update posted on Friday (May 12), investigators determined there is "no foul play suspected" in the death of the female Arby's employee who is not being identified at this time.

While there has been much speculation and plenty of theories surrounding the shocking death of the employee who was found in the walk-in freezer, Arby's released a statement saying they were aware of the unfortunate incident and cooperating with police but would not be making any further comment.

We are aware of the incident that took place at our franchised location in New Iberia, LA. The franchisee is cooperating fully with local authorities as they conduct their investigation. Due to this being an active investigation, we defer any further comment to the police department.

On the same day Arby's Brand Reputation Manager, Laurel Sprague, released that statement, social media users shared mixed reactions over a reported job posting from Arby's.

The screengrab of the part-time job posting wasn't linked or credited to any one site, but it did advertise an opening for a crew member position at the New Iberia location.

As more and more people began to make public Facebook posts about the job opening, a debate ensued over when the job posting was placed considering that the restaurant had been advertising they were hiring before the tragedy that unfolded on Thursday (May 11).

One of the initial reports of a body being found in the freezer of the New Iberia Arby's came from Lonniesha Pomier who shared the following photo in her public Facebook post.

In her post, it's clear to see "NOW HIRING ALL POSITIONS" on Arby's marquee sign as investigators were responding to the incident in real-time

Job postings on the official Arby's website reflect the advertisement seen on the sign as positions for general manager, shift manager, and crew are all being advertised for the New Iberia location.

While the timing of the job posting is definitely sad given the unfortunate incident, chances are there wasn't a "quid pro quo" situation where the body of an Arby's employee was found in a walk-in freezer and someone notified corporate to post a job listing to replace the female employee.

The harsh truth is that companies sometimes do have to deal with these sensitive situations which is what professionals in Human Resources are usually trained for.

With that said, we still reached out to Arby's Brand Reputation team via email to confirm and also called the restaurant and spoke to someone who said he couldn't comment on the issue as he was "just a sub-contractor" who was helping out an Arby's employee by answering the phone while they were "in the bathroom."

In what is surely a difficult time for family members and loved ones of the Arby's team member who was found as well as her colleagues, news of the story has now gained national attention and beyond from major publications like Fox News, TMZ, and Daily Mail.

We will continue to provide updates as we receive confirmed information.
