Are Referees Over Protective Of Tom Brady?
During the Patriots v Dolphins game this past weekend (9/15), Miami linebacker Raekwon McMillan claims that refs told him not to hit Tom Brady.
In case you didn't know, the Super Bowl winning quarterbacks from 2007, 2008, and 2009 are all not playing right now. Two are from injuries (Drew Brees and Ben Roethlisberger) and one is benched (Eli Manning).
So, we can't say that referees are trying to protect ALL quarterbacks in the league. So, why so much protection for Tom Brady? He's already gotten his own rule.
Is he really the Golden Boy of the NFL?
According to McMillan after he landed a very legal hit on Tom Brady, a referee told him to "stay off Tom."
If you're wondering what kind of hit was put on Brady to have a referee spout to "stay off Tom," this seems to be the hit in question:
Of course, this is one man's take, and claim on what happened. What do you think? Do you think the referees are over-protecting Tom Brady?
