Howie D Is the Third Backstreet Boy to Ask *NSYNC to Reunite
And then there were three!
Howie Dorough of the Backstreet Boys has now asked *NSYNC to reunite. Dorough's request comes after his bandmate's Nick Carter and AJ McLean both made public comments asking for the group to reunite and even collaborate with them for the ultimate boy band collaboration.
Dorough tells Entertainment Tonight exclusively that he has even spoken to *NSYNC members himself about a potential reunion. “I’ve definitely talked with Joey [Fatone] before about us doing something," he says. “I’ve even encouraged them to go on themselves and keep performing. We were once four. I’m like, ‘Dude if we can do it the four of us, so can you!’”
The four he is referring to is when the Backstreet Boys member Kevin Richardson took a break from the band between 2006-2012.
“Obviously, Justin [Timberlake] was a main lead in that group so I know it’s a little bit different,” he agrees. “With Kevin or myself, back in the day, it (was not) as hard to go on as four. If it was Nick, AJ or Brian who had left, it might have been more challenging.”
Dorough says that he knows that there are legions of fans out there wanting to see them live once again. “So, I’m always encouraging them, and all the other groups from the past that are out there too," Dorough says. "I feel like nowadays we only help each other continue the pop scene and the nostalgia."
