The Baldwin Police Department has resorted to patrolling neighborhoods while on foot. Yes, police are being forced to exit their car and take to the streets by walking through neighborhoods.

The chief of police says that due to budget cuts, police officers in Baldwin have been advised to save on fuel by walking the streets of the small town.

In the KATC report the chief says that the department will continue to serve the community around the clock, but recent cuts are forcing his officers to adjust.

In the day and age we are in, it has to be scary for these officers to exit their vehicles to patrol the streets. We hope that this issue is resolved soon and we will continue to follow this story.
