Mark Cooper, Chief of Staff for Governor John Bel Edwards, talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the Governor's Stay-at-Home decree and the meetings with healthcare experts and others that led to his decision.

Cooper tells KEEL listeners that Edwards understands "that this (order) will effect everyone and everyone has a role to play."

Cooper adds that the Governor's meetings included talks with representatives from the Louisiana Department of Health and the Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, where the implementation and ramifications of the Stay-at-Home order were weighed.

The Governor's Stay-at-Home mandate goes into effect on Monday, March 20 at 5pm. Louisiana citizens are urged to stay in their homes and travel only when necessary.
