As a review of programs at the U.S. Department of Interiors begins, the Biden administration has suspended new oil and gas leasing and drilling permits on public lands and waters. The suspension will last 60 days as the review is underway.

According to the report from KATC-TV3, this move comes along with President Biden's plan to address climate change in the country. This new order also places a suspension on the approval of other related acts like land sales or exchanges, new mining plans, or senior-level staffing hires according to the report.

This news comes the heels of the announcement that President Biden has revoked the Keystone XL Pipeline permit.
