Last night during halftime of the game between the Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys, longtime NBC broadcaster Bob Costas weighed in on Washington's controversial nickname. Many feel the monicker "Redskins" is offensive and should be changed.

During the two minute speech, Costas described other athletic teams with similar situations that have since changed mascots. Costas also drew distinctions between the name "Redskins" and other controversial mascots like "Braves" and "Chiefs" which he felt were more acceptable.

The immediate online reaction to Costas' speech was predictably divisive; with vocal and passionate people on both sides of the issue.
