Famed chef, author and travel host Anthony Bourdain has died at the age of 61. According to reports, Bourdain took his own life in a hotel room in France on Friday (June 8). He was in the city of Strasbourg working on an episode of his CNN show, Parts Unknown.

The death of Boudain, who was also known for traveling the world for eight seasons on his show, No Reservations, on the Travel Channel, shocked many in the hip-hop world, including Bun B, Pharoahe Monch, Lupe Fiasco and Questlove, who paid their respects to Bourdain on social media. "Dumbfounded. You never know who's in pain. RIP," wrote Bun B on Instagram. "Shattering news. RIP. Anthony Bourdain," tweeted Pharoahe Monch. "We asked very simple questions. What makes you happy? - Anthony Bourdain," the rapper added.

In a statement from CNN, which aired Bourdain's Parts Unknown series, the network confirmed his death and offered their thoughts and prayers to his family. “It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague,” the statement reads.

"His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller," the statement continues. "His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time."

Bourdain was no stranger to hip-hop, having featured DJ Kool Herc, Slim Thug, Lupe Fiasco and Heems in episodes of Parts Unknown. The TV host also interviewed Questlove in 2016, following the release of The Roots' drummer's book, Something to Food About.

After news of Bourdain's death broke, Questlove hopped on Instagram and shared a photo from their time together and posted a heartfelt message. "I feel so thankful for him to introducing me to a world I never knew, the world of food and especially food around the world," Quest wrote.
