Going into Friday's game with Savannah State, everyone expected the visitors to shoot plenty of three pointers.

But it was the Cajuns who fired them up...and made a bunch of them.

Louisiana tied a school record with 16 three point baskets as the Cajuns raced past Savannah State 115-82 at the Cajundome.

Cedric Russell and Frank Bartley IV combined for eleven of those baskets in leading the Cajuns to their second straight win.

Bryce Washington became the latest Cajun to reach the 1,000 point mark in his career and tied Bartley for game honors with 21 points.  Washington also scored is first double double of the season, tearing down 15 rebounds.

Russell hit six of seven from beyond the arc and notched a career high 20 points for the Cajuns, while JaKeenan Gant added 17.

Dexter McClanahan scored 17 to lead Savannah State (1-3) while Alante Fenner added eleven.

The Tigers averaged more than 40 attempts from beyond the arc in their first three games of the season, but attempted only 17 against the Cajuns, making six.

"We wanted to run them off the three point line and we did that," head coach Bob Marlin said.  "They blew by us for some easy baskets with their quickness, but I'll take that.  Our goal was to limit the threes."

The Cajuns turned the ball over 20 times, but had 30 assists in the game, with Marcus Stroman leading the way with eleven.  Malik Marquetti added six assists and Washington five.

The Cajuns led 13-10 with 15:27 to play in the first half, but then went on a 16-4 run over the next two and a half minutes to open up a 15 point lead en route to scoring 67 points in the first half.  Russell had 14 first half points while Washington added 13 and Gant eleven.

The Cajuns now head to the Cayman Islands Classic beginning Monday when they will tak on Iowa out of the Big 10 in a game beginning at 11:00 am.
