St. Martinville Man Hailed as Local Hero After Saving Mother, 3 Kids from Burning Mobile Home
Please join us in praising a local hero who saved the lives of a mother and her three kids in St. Martinville.
St. Martinville Police posted a photo to their official Facebook page recognizing Cameron Francis for "his life-saving actions" on Tuesday night (Feb. 7).
According to police, Cameron noticed a neighboring mobile home was on fire while he was at his residence on Perkins Street. Cameron sprang into action and was able to get into the mobile home and rescue a mother and her three kids right before their home was "engulfed in flames."
Authorities made it out to the scene and were able to extinguish the blaze, but, as you can see in the photos attached to the St. Martinville Police Department Facebook post, the home was completely ruined.
The home was burned so badly that there is no doubt that without Cameron's swift thinking, the family may not have made it out of their home alive. Police Chief Martin relayed this message to Cameron whose response was simple:
I just did what I had to do
Because of Cameron's selfless actions and thoughtful response, four lives were saved. St. Martinville police called him a "hero."
This kind of selfless action is the action of a true leader and an example of what happens when we care about and love each other, even strangers.
People who commented on the post also sang Cameron's praises.
Again, please join us along with the St. Martinville Police in thanking Cameron Francis for being a life-saver.
