Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow” video put the Bronx native on the rap map, but according to the director, it was one of his most difficult shoots.

In an interview with Genius, director Picture Perfect revealed that Cardi B was almost mauled by a cheetah while filming a key scene for the video.

“I didn’t know how hard it was gonna be to get a cheetah,” he recalled. “We shot [a] scene we didn’t use [where] [the animal] attacked Cardi in that scene.”

They decided to use a different approach with the cheetah for another scene. This time, before bringing the animal on set, the handler let him feast on six pounds of deer meat. Afterward, the cheetah was much calmer and it allowed Cardi to pet the animal without riling him up.

Initially, Picture Picture wanted to shoot Cardi B driving an expensive car with a cheetah in the passenger seat. But the animal handler wasn't comfortable with that idea, so they scrapped it altogether. Good call.

Elsewhere in the video, Cardi rode a camel while showing off her "bloody shoes" (aka Christian Louboutin). Picture Perfect said that Cardi wasn't thrilled at first with riding the animal but she knew it was important for the video.

“I put her on the camel and she just got scared up there," he recalled. "She’s a trooper. If it's for her video and for her shot, she's going to do it."
