A Carencro family known for their involvement in the local business community is now facing an unimaginable loss after a devastating house fire destroyed their home.

According to posts shared by family members and their business, Keown Plumbing, the fire left the family with very little to nothing. While some items may be recovered, the overall impact has been described as a total loss, especially for the children who lost everything.

The emotional toll of the situation could be felt  in a message shared by Mike and Amy Keown, who described the day as one of the hardest they have ever experienced.

A Desperate Rush And A Heartbreaking Reality

Earlier in the day, the family addressed concerns after one of their company vehicles was seen speeding through traffic. They later explained that they had just received the call that their home was on fire and were rushing to get there.

“In that moment, our only focus was getting there as quickly as possible,” they shared, while also apologizing for any concern caused.

The message quickly shifted to gratitude, as they thanked the community for the overwhelming support, prayers, and outreach they have received.

Family And Pets Safe, But Loss Is Significant

Family members confirmed that both of the family’s dogs survived the fire. One was rescued thanks to the quick response from the Carencro Fire Department, while the other escaped through a melted section of the home.

Both animals are currently being cared for at a local veterinary hospital.

Despite that relief, the loss remains significant. The family’s home and most belongings were destroyed.

How The Community Can Help

Support efforts are already underway, but family members are asking for specific types of assistance to keep things organized and helpful during this difficult time.

Gift cards to places like Walmart, Target, Amazon, Super One, and local restaurants are being requested and can be dropped off at Salon Rouge or Catalyst Bank in Carencro.

Monetary donations are also being accepted through Venmo at Amy-Keown-2. An Amazon wishlist with specific needs is expected to be shared soon.

At this time, the family is asking the public to hold off on donating clothing or miscellaneous items unless requested, to avoid becoming overwhelmed.

A Community Known For Giving, Now Receiving

Those close to the family say they are often the first to give back to others in need. Now, the community is returning that same generosity in their time of crisis.

Right now anything helps, even sharing their story.
