Carencro Man Charged in Lafayette Murder

25-year-old Keon Woods of Carencro has been arrested in the shooting death of 27-year-old Rico Thomas. Woods has been charged with one count of 2nd Degree Murder and has been booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.

ORIGINAL STORY 

(June 19) - 27-year-old Rico Thomas is dead following a shooting Friday morning in the 700 block of Edison Street in Lafayette.

Lafayette Police Department spokesman Sgt. Wayne Griffin says Thomas was shot once in the upper torso during the incident and died at the hospital.

The suspect was able to get away before police officers arrived on the scene as the investigation continues.
