Cee Lo Green joined forces with his rap group Goodie Mob to perform ‘Fight to Win,’ a new track from the newly reunited hip-hop icons at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards. While onstage, Goodie Mob seized the moment and paid tribute to the Beastie Boys‘ Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch.

The performance opened with a ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ style introduction, but the real star of this show wasn’t Cee Lo, Goodie Mob nor the fallen Freddie Mercury — it was a veteran with one leg who danced his behind off in front of Cee Lo and his Mob, who were clad head to toe in white. The dancer busted breakdancing moves that most people with all of their limbs couldn’t even dream of attempting. He absolutely killed it.

Towards the end of ‘Fight to Win,’ some familiar chords emerged. Goodie Mob and Cee Lo paid tribute to recently deceased Beastie Boy Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch, who sadly passed away three weeks ago following a 3-year battle with cancer, with a cover of ‘Fight for Your Right.’

Flanked by dancers in 80′s garb and the Beastie Boys’ logo on the giant screens behind them, Green and his cohorts gave way to an image of Yauch with an in memoriam dedication. They captured the rebellious, fun-loving spirit of the track while maintaining reverence to the loss of a legend. It was no small feat, but if anyone could do it, it’s Cee Lo.
