Members of the Lafayette Regional Airport Commission and staff will hold a press conference and celebration to commemorate the end of the 8-month sales tax.

Voters agreed to a one penny, 8-month sales tax to fund a new terminal and other improvements at the Lafayette Regional Airport.  Monday, November 30 is the last day the tax will be collected.

Airport commissioners and staff plan to pass out cake to passengers throughout the day as a way of thanking the public for supporting the tax and the airport.

The money collected from the tax is about a third of the amount needed to complete the entire project, and officials expect to get the remaining funds from the state and federal governments.
