Chances Are, You’re Grilling Steaks This Weekend In Acadiana
Shout out to all of the locally-owned meat markets in Acadiana! Someone said yesterday that meat markets in our area are like corner stores in other cities. They're everywhere!
Whether you want a boudin stuffed chicken from Billy's or your favorite cut off the butcher block at NuNu's, we love our meat here. A new survey from GrillCookBake.com says more than 1/3 of us say steak is our favorite meat to grill.
- Over one-third of Americans (34%) say steak is their favorite grilled food, followed by hamburgers (19%) and chicken (18%).
- Medium rare was the most common cooking preference (27.3%), followed by medium (25.6%) and medium-well (23.5%). The results varied significantly by state.
- 19.4% of Americans prefer their steak well done. Four states had well done as their most common response (Alaska, Georgia, Oklahoma, West Virginia).
- 81% of Americans preferred hamburgers over hot dogs.
In recent years, Acadiana staple Hebert's Specialty Meats expanded. Now you can get their world-famous boneless stuffed chickens from Texas to the beaches in Florida. Memorial Day gives us a long weekend and with more things opening every single day, many people are planning to spend the extra time with family and friends gathered around the barbecue pit.
