In May the Unicode Tech Committee will meet to decide which emoji's will be released in June 2016. Oh, you don't know about the Unicode Tech Committee? Don't worry, I didn't either.

According to BuzzFeed, the Unicode Consortium is a group of tech companies that oversee the system that converts computer code to readable text. I'm not even sure what that means, but I do know that they are the ones in charge of picking the new emoji's for next year, so they are my new favorite group of people. The Unicode Consortium has accepted 67 potential emoji's for the new year, and in May they will choose their favorites.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the bacon and the selfie emoji. But, there are a ton of great emoji's to choose from, like the cowboy smiley face, champagne glasses, and even a person doing a cartwheel! Yeah, the Unicode Tech Committee have some pretty tough decisions to make in May.

You can take a peek at all 67 possible 2016 emoji additions on the Unicode website.
