I recently took a tour of LSU Tiger Stadium and learned a few things about the LSU football program. Just when you think you may know it all, nope there's more.

For one, I learned that the LSU equipment staff works really hard. Did you know that after EVERY game the equipment staff strips the player's helmets and repaints them. This allows the staff to better inspect the helmets for cracks and it allows the helmets to always look new on television.

The staff removes all the decals from the helmet and then buffs them. Once they are thoroughly inspected, the helmets are repainted and new decals are placed on the game day helmet. Oh, did you know that LSU does not allow their players to practice with their game day helmets? Each player has two helmets---one for practice and one for game day.

I also learned that LSU has two separate home locker rooms. Players use the locker room you see above to get dressed prior to games, and they also have a larger room closer to the playing field they use for halftime.

Inside the halftime locker room there's PURPLE TURF. No carpet. This is because the players have cleats on and can wear/tear carpet. So yes, LSU did indeed bring purple turf into Tiger Stadium.

The tour also informed us on how much work goes into prepping the field for game day. No, its not done in one day and several coats of paint are put down prior to game day at LSU.

There you have it, just when you thought you knew it all about LSU Football---there's more to learn and I'm fine with that.

Now, let's get ready for some football!!!
