A huge 60-foot alligator built out of wood will be the centerpiece of the annual bonfires on Christmas Eve in St James and St John Parishes.

The beast measures out at nearly 60 feet from head to tail and is 25 feet at its widest.

Blood, Sweat, and Bonfires on Facebook posted pictures of the gator during construction and after it was done and it is quite spectacular.

The annual bonfires on Christmas Eve along River Road are truly something magical to witness. In fact, it has become so popular that thousands make it a tradition to attend each year.

If you're interested in going, you're in luck because it's a free event and open to the public. The alligator bonfire is located on the corner of La 44 and South Church St in Garyville, Louisiana.

There is limited free parking across the street from the levee. You can also drive past it, however, you're asked to be careful as guests will be crossing the street.

The lighting of the bonfire will start shortly after 7 pm and burn well past midnight.
