One Person Dead Following Tuesday Night Shooting in Church Point, Police Investigating

One person is dead following a shooting Tuesday night in Church Point, and investigators are asking the public for help as they work to determine what happened.

According to Church Point Police Chief Dale Thibodeaux, officers responded to reports of a shooting along South Broadway Street around 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13.

The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, was transported to a local hospital before responding officers arrived at the scene.

Victim Pronounced Dead After Arriving at Hospital

According to a report from our media partners at Acadiana News First, Thibodeaux confirmed that officers learned the victim had already been taken to the hospital when they arrived on South Broadway Street.

Police said the victim suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Authorities have not released additional information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including what may have led to the gunfire.

The victim's name has not been made public, and police have not announced any arrests or identified a suspect.

Church Point Police Continue Shooting Investigation

In a statement released Tuesday evening, the Church Point Police Department confirmed that the investigation remains active.
