Twin Babies Unharmed in Church Point Hostage Situation, Suspect on the Run After Escaping Police
Authorities are currently at the scene of a hostage situation in Church Point, as confirmed by Acadia Parish Sheriff, K.P. Gibson.
UPDATE (6/8 8 p.m.):
According to a press release from the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office, the suspect escaped before officers set up a perimeter around the apartment where they believed the hostage situation to be unfolding. Sheriff K.P. Gibson believes the suspect escaped through a back door, thankfully leaving the 6-month-old twin babies behind.

According to News 10, the children—reportedly 6-month-old twins—have been retrieved but the suspect is still barricading himself inside.
ORIGINAL STORY:
According to eyewitnesses, a man has barricaded himself and two young children inside the Centennial Village Apartments on Wilson Street.
KLFY News 10 reporter Brit Lofaso, who is present at the location, has also verified the presence of at least two dozen police units. The SWAT team, Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office, and Church Point Police have all been dispatched to the scene.
