Construction Closes Intersection Near Girard Park

Lafayette residents who might want to take a relaxing walk in Girard Park might really need that downtime after dealing with road construction around the park. The road construction is in place so that a new roundabout can be constructed.

The affected intersection is located at Girard Park Drive and Hospital Drive. Many of us use that as a back way to get to several medical offices located on Hospital Drive or to avoid the confusion of entering the Oil Center at the often maligned and misaligned intersection of South College, Bendel, and Coolidge.

Roundabout construction is underway at the intersection as we speak. If all goes according to plan the new roundabout should be open in about 8 months. Until then you'll want to choose an alternate route to get to Girard Park or those medical offices located on Hospital Drive.
