If you are interested in being tested for Covid-19 infection because you have symptoms, a mobile testing site will start up tomorrow, Friday, July 10, 2020.

The testing will be set up as a drive-thru test, and it is a free test.

If you want to use this site to get a Covid test, you do need to register. If you do not register ahead of time, you have a longer wait. In order to register, you can click on www.DoINeedaCOVID19test.com. You will then need to click on the "Louisiana" button, and then you need to choose "Cajun Field" which is Mobile#3.

Here are some of the things you need to know if you do plan to go and get tested at the Cajun Field site:

  • You do not need to have any ID, but you are asked to register for testing.
  • The testing is open to anyone in Louisiana who is at least 5-years-old.

Officials at the Cajun Field testing site say they will be in operation from Friday, July 10 through Wednesday, July 15, starting each day at 8 o'clock in the morning and concluding at 4 o'clock in the afternoon.

The test results usually take about three to five days to come in, and you will be contacted via email message with your results. Having written that, you can also access your test results by going to the following address: www.DoINeedaCOVID19test.com. If you test positive for Covid-19, someone will call you, but you must also know that there is no telephone number that you can call for test results. The results are available by accessing the website listed above.

Details about what you will be doing when you get to the site were provided, via press release, and is as follows:

People who visit the site are encouraged to wear masks. Those being tested will perform nasal swabs on themselves as they wait in their vehicles. The process will be observed by a health care professional to ensure it is done correctly. Sealed samples will be dropped in a container.
