Demi Lovato’s Team Wants Her to Cut Out a ‘Toxic’ Friend…Who Is It?
Demi Lovato's team is pleading with the Confident singer to cut certain people out of her life after a reported relapse and drug overdose that landed her in the hospital in July. And, TMZ noted, there's one friend in particular who needs to be kicked to the curb.
According to the site, "there will be a major focus on separating her from toxic people in her life once she gets out of rehab, including even a distant relative who is believed to have a negative impact on her," adding "we're told one friend in particular is on the hit list."
TMZ added that Lovato will likely get a new phone number that she'll only give to a select crowd. Otherwise, all "yes" men and party-sycophants will be shown the door.
The news comes shortly after Lovato issued her first statement since her reported hospitalization.
"I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction,” the 25-year-old singer wrote in an Instagram post on Sunday (August 5). “What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet.”
Lovato proceeded to "thank God for keeping [her] alive and well" and gave a nod to her friends, family and medical professionals.
"Without them I wouldn’t be here writing this letter to all of you," she continued. “I now need time to heal and focus on my sobriety and road to recovery. The love you have all shown me will never be forgotten and I look forward to the day where I can say I came out on the other side. I will keep fighting.”
Lovato's next step is to enter into a rehab stay, according to TMZ.
