Drake has been named the best-selling recording artist of 2016 by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry. Drake is the fourth recipient of the IFPI's Global Recording Artist of the Year Award, which accounts for an artist's worldwide sales in both physical and digital formats as well as streams. "I'm delighted to be able to honour Drake as the IFPI Global Recording Artist 2016," FPI chief executive Frances Moore said. "Drake’s phenomenal success reflects how deeply his unique sound appeals to an enormous global audience. The Global Top 10 list features a number of amazing artists, and the variety and vibrancy of their art speaks volumes about the exciting state of music today."

Drake's achievement is hardly a surprise when one considers all of the records he broke in 2016. Drake's Views album racked up over 1 billion streams on Apple Music and surpassed 3 billion plays on Spotify last year. The LP's lead single "One Dance" also became the most streamed song in Spotify history.

While Drake is certainly thankful for all his success in 2016, the Toronto rapper is focused on making 2017 even bigger. During a performance in London, Drizzy hinted at a Young Money reunion.

"We might have to do something special, we might have to do some Young Money reunion shit out here this summer," he told the crowd. "I might have to bring all my friends from America, all my friends from Canada, the whole OVO. So listen, this is the last chance tonight. It’s up to each and every one of y'all. If you ready to work with me, I’ma work with you. We gon’ come back and kill this shit."

Drake is also set to drop his More Life playlist in the near future. The "Controlla" artist teased a February release for the project, but no specific date has been announced.
