Drake’s OVO Sound and Warner Bros. Records Expand Partnership
Drake's OVO Sound imprint has expanded its partnership with Warner Bros. Records. The label provided little information about what the expansion meant, besides revealing OVO Sound executive Mr. Morgan's would now be based out of the Warner Bros. offices in New York City.
OVO Sound was founded in 2012 by Drake, Noah "40" Shebib and Oliver El-Khatib. The label signed a distribution deal with Warner Bros. that same year. The label's roster currently includes hit songwriter PARTYNEXTDOOR, dvsn, Majid Jordan and Roy Woods. Drake remains signed to Universal Music Group's Young Money/Cash Money/Republic Records.
The expanded partnership is more positive news for Drake, who has been receiving his fair share of good fortune. The Toronto MC secured the hosting honors for the first ever NBA Awards Show, which will take place on June 26. Drizzy is also set to perform at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards, which airs live on ABC on May 21. These gigs come in the midst of Drake's continued streaming dominance, highlighted by his More Life playlist surpassing 1 billion streams.
While things are going pretty well for Drake, his life is not without drama. A retired porn star named Sophie Brussaux is claiming the "Passionfruit" artist got her pregnant. The former adult actress has already hired lawyers to seek a paternity test, but Drake's reps say the rapper strongly doubts he is the father.
