Drake’s ‘Views’ Goes Platinum, Physical and Streaming Dates Announced
Not even a week after Drake released his highly anticipated album Views, the project has reportedly gone platinum already. According to Republic Records, the album has sold the equivalent (including streams) of 1.2 million copies so far.
Although the exact number of sales has yet to be released, the label estimates the album has been streamed 250 millions times on Apple Music, with 200 million of those streams coming from the U.S. alone. If the 1.2 million copies sold is accurate, the album in fact has reached platinum status in just six days.
"Views" is currently No. 1 on iTunes in 95 countries, and will arrive at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart next week.
What's even more fascinating is that the album was exclusively released on Apple Music only so after this week, the numbers are expected to spike upward. Last Saturday, Drake revealed that he moved 630,000 copies in one night.
The physical copy of Views will be available on Friday (May 6) along with the digital version to be added to other online retailers. On May 13, other streaming app's like Tidal and Spotify will have the album as well.
And in true complete release fashion, Drizzy will appear as a host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live on May 14. The Toronto superstar is set to perform a couple of songs from his celebrated album.
