Pedestrian Struck and Killed, Man Finds Body on Roof of SUV After Driving to Work
Vehicle accidents that involve pedestrians are bad enough, but this may be one of the worst cases that we've ever seen.
According to KLTV, a pedestrian in Longview, TX was struck and killed after being hit by a vehicle. This wasn't necessarily a hit-and-run accident because the driver of the vehicle claims that he didn't even realize he hit anyone as he continued on his commute to work.
When he arrived at his job, the driver realized what happened after reportedly discovering the pedestrian's body on the roof of his SUV.
Gregg County Justice of the Peace for Precinct 4, the incident happened near the intersection of Neiman Marcus Pkwy and Eastman Road Friday morning. Cox said the man was struck by an SUV. The driver of the SUV did not realize he had hit somebody and kept driving to work. When he got to work, the body of the pedestrian was discovered on the roof of the SUV.
While we were unable to determine whether the pedestrian was killed upon impact or not, KLTV's report said the man was pronounced dead just after 8 a.m. on Friday morning.
Reactions to the report poured in on the KLTV Facebook page ranging from those who were saddened by the news to others who couldn't imagine how the driver wouldn't have known he had hit a pedestrian—especially given the fact that he was on his roof for the rest of his drive to work.
One Facebook user offered up more details on how the situation allegedly unfolded, claiming that the driver actually got out of his car to look for "the animal" that he may have hit with his vehicle—only to make the gruesome discovery of what actually happened once he arrived at his job.
The identity of the pedestrian was not disclosed and authorities are investigating the crash as an accident.
