This is no April Fool's prank.

The United States Geological Survey is reporting a magnitude 3.0 earthquake in northwestern Louisiana.

According to the USGS, that earthquake struck at 2:26 a.m. The quake's epicenter was located in a nature park about three miles west of the town of Blanchard. For perspective, the epicenter is about 12 miles northwest of Shreveport, about nine miles south of Caddo Lake, about five miles north-northwest of Cross Lake, and a little more than five miles east of the Texas State Line.

The USGS says the earthquake was shallow, occurring at a depth of about five kilometers (approximately 3.1 miles). The USGS says shaking was moderate. They say they expect any damage to property to be minor.
