Eunice Accused Attempted Murderer Arrested after Firearm Application Denied

70-year-old John Dale Pastorick of Eunice sits in the St. Landry Parish Jail after a local business showed the accused attempted murderer allegedly tried to buy a gun in August. Pastorick was arrested on Monday for Fraudulent Firearm and Ammunition Purchase. His bond has been set at $5,000.00.

According to a press release from the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office, Pastorick was charged with attempted second degree murder in May of 2017. His case is scheduled to go to trial in November of 2020.

“Federal firearm deals and private sellers have a mandatory obligation by law to report denials to the sheriff of the parish,” says Sheriff Bobby Guidroz. “This law was created to prevent a person from illegally obtaining a firearm when they are not allowed to acquire one.”

One of the questions on a Firearms Transactions Record asks “Are you under indictment or information in any court for a felony or any other crime for which the judge could imprison you for more than one year?” The press release says Pastorick indicated “No” as his answer, allegedly providing false information.
