Exclusive: Lafayette Native Launches Food App For Testing In Acadiana
Lafayette native and ESA graduated Matt Bouchner is doing big things. He's preparing for his senior year at Emory University in Atlanta and could be changing the way the nation talks about food. Think Instagram for food, but it's so much more than that! An app he thought up and helped create, MealMe, is in testing and he wants you to help. He has chosen his hometown of Lafayette and the surrounding areas to be a part of the testing phase.
If you're a foodie, then you mostly likely take pictures of your food and post them on social media. But what if you could post your pictures for other foodies to see and then order that food right in the app. What about a direct link to make a reservation? Well, MealMe does that too.
Matt says he has always had a love for food and cooking it. As an 11-year-old, he hosted a cooking show of his own on local TV. Fast-forward about 10 years and the idea for MealMe came about. He teamed up with a student developer at Georgia Tech who started working on the back-end proprietary technology. His love for food has only grown and now he wants to help put good food out there for the world to see, but also have it delivered to your door.
You can download the exclusive test version of the app by CLICKING HERE.
You'll have to download Apple TestFlight first, then you will be linked to the app to download MealMe. That's all you need to do... start POSTING and eating!
You may be asking yourself, what's in it for the developers. The only income stream for MealMe is a referral fee the restaurants pay for every order. Matt says profits were never the priority and that's it's always been about the food. That's one thing that hasn't changed. Matt's TV days may be behind him, but we see a very bright future for him in the world of tech.
