Governor Edwards posted photographs of flags planted on the lawn of the Louisiana Capitol Building to commemorate those lost to COVID-19.

According to Governor Edwards' post, 9,758 flags were planted in front of the capitol building in Baton Rouge. Each flag is to commemorate one soul from Louisiana lost to the coronavirus since March 14, 2020.

Lafayette Parish is currently 6th in the state in coronavirus deaths with a total of  21,735 since the beginning of the pandemic.

Louisiana is making strides in getting the vaccine to its residents. According to a report from The Advocate, a big expansion in coronavirus vaccine eligibility in Louisiana could be here soon. The state is expected to open up the accessibility to the vaccine to any adult that is in the high-risk category, possibly as soon as tomorrow.
