Boxing great Floyd Mayweather Jr. defeated Manny Pacquiao in a highly anticipated fight that took place on Saturday (May 2) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Mayweather, who is a technical fighter, outbox Pacquiao to win an unanimous decision in their championship bout.
Mayweather extends his perfect boxing record to 48 wins, 26 knockouts and no losses. At 38 years old, the Michigan native is, undoubtedly, the greatest fighter of this generation.
“Pacquiao is a great champion and a helluva fighter. Now I see why he’s been so successful in the sport,” said Mayweather after his victory. “He had his moments in the fight, but as long as I moved on the outside he wasn’t going to be able to catch me. He’s a really smart fighter, though."
After the fight was over, several rappers and singers went on Twitter to express how underwhelmed they were watching the performance of both Mayweather and Pacquiao. Many were expecting an outright brawl between the two men but only got a typical boxing match.
"I'm glad Floyd won but I wanted to see some action!" tweeted Meek Mill. "Predictable, uneventful. Mayweather too tactical," wrote J-Live. "Boring unless you appreciate skill over big hits."
