A former local roundball star is no longer a member of the LSU men's basketball team.

Former LCA prep standout Gale Alexander has been put on an indefinite "leave on absence" from the LSU program and the chances of him returning to the team don't look real good at present time.

LSU basketball coach Will Wade told members of the media on Monday night that Alexander will "look for other places at the end of the season."

A native of Breaux Bridge, Alexander played in nine games this season for the Tigers, averaging 1.9 points and 2.1 rebounds. He was shooting 37.5 percent from the field and 18.2 percent from beyond the three-point arc.

In addition, freshman forward Mayan Kiir's has also been put on leave for the remainder of the season, but he has a chance to earn his spot back on the team.

Meanwhile, sophomore forward Wayde Sims and freshman guard Brandon Rachal are each suspended for the game at Tennessee on Wednesday night, and will rejoin the team for Saturday's home contest against Arkansas after violating team policy.

LSU is currently 12-8, overall, and 3-5 in SEC play.
