Former Saints Defensive End Will Smith Killed In New Orleans

Former Saints DE Will Smith was shot and killed in the Lower Garden District Saturday night (4/9).

The former Saint was killed and a woman was injured in the shooting. He was 34.

The shooting took place around 11:29pm.

Police say Smith and his wife were rear-ended by a Hummer H2. The Smith's vehicle then hit a Chevrolet Impala. According to NOPD, Smith and the driver of the Hummer "exchanged words" before the driver produced a handgun.

The driver then shot Smith multiple times, hitting his wife twice in the right leg.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife was transported to a hospital.

The 30-year-old shooting suspect was apprehended, and is being questioned. The weapon was also recovered.
