Former Saints Players Invest In LSU’s Marijuana Growing Company
Four former NFL players, including two former Saints players are among the over 100 investors in the company that was hired to grow medical marijuana for LSU.
Wellcana Group LLC. has some famous investors. Bradie James, who played linebacker for LSU and the Dallas Cowboys, former Arizona Cardinal Daryl Washington, and former New Orleans Saints David Hawthorne and Curtis Loftin have invested in Wellcana Group.

$9.7 million in capital over the past year has been put up by investors for the endeavor. The money has been used for building facilities in Baton Rouge as well as operating costs.
Records show that a large number of investors are based in Lafayette, and GB Sciences Louisiana (which Wellcana Group has amassed 48.percent stake in) President John Davis said most have “personal and professional connections to Louisiana.”
