Frank Ocean Releases Extended Solo Version of ‘Biking’ [LISTEN]
Frank Ocean’s sixth episode of blonded RADIO was chock full of musical goodies. According to Pitchfork, the Grammy-winning singer debuted a new track from A$AP Rocky called “RAF,” which featured him, Quavo and Lil Uzi Vert. He also premiered the solo extended version of “Biking.”
The original track contained verses from Jay Z and Tyler, the Creator, while on the solo version it's just Ocean and melodic guitars. On the song, the piano man refers to biking as his spiritual outlet. “God gave you what you can handle / Gave you what you can handle / I got the grip like the handle / And I’m bikin’ / I’m bikin’ with me and my Daniel,” he sings.
Elsewhere on the show, Frank played music from The Beatles, 2Pac, OutKast, Dam Funk, Erykah Badu and more. Speaking of the Beatles, Ocean thanked the Fab Four for helping him get out of a songwriting funk during the record process of Endless and Blonde. “I want to thank The Beatles for almost single-handedly getting me out of writer’s block,” he said, according to Billboard.
In the meantime, Ocean is in a legal fight against his father, Calvin Cooksey. The singer wants his dad's $14.5 million defamation lawsuit thrown out. Cooksey claims that Ocean slandered his name in a Tumblr post. However, Ocean disagrees and stated in his countersuit that what he wrote was the truth.
