Louisiana has over 400 festivals a year, and we celebrate everything from okra to oysters with a party. And if you are a fan of the much loved French Quarter Festival, then you need to make a note on your calendar for 2020. The free outdoor music festival originally scheduled for April 2-5 is being moved to April 16-19. This means that the party is ending very shortly before New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival next year.

According to Stephen Perry, who is president of the city tourism board New Orleans & Company, the move is being facilitated to accommodate the NCAA Women's Final Four basketball tournament, which is scheduled for April 3-5. This means that Jazz Fest, which begins on April 23, will begin only 4 days after the conclusion of French Quarter Fest next year.

Festival organizers said over 825,000 people attended French Quarter Fest last year, which of course is a major economic boon for the city, and the state. So, plan accordingly if you are filling up your festival dance card for 2020, y'all!
