A viral photo on Facebook shows what things looked like on the first day back for one Georgia school.

There were multiple photos posted to social media showing no social distancing and very few masks at a Georgia school on their first day back. The school is located in Paulding County, a suburban Atlanta school district that has worked with the Georgia Department of Education in a partnership with the Georgia Department of Public Health to open up with guidelines in place to safely combat the pandemic.

Based on photos shared by students on their first day back, their plan was an absolute failure.

Let me be clear, this isn't meant to bash schools, but instead, point out that Lafayette Parish Public Schools may be at an advantage with their recent decision to delay the start of school until after Labor Day. As our leaders and administrators continuously make adjustments using data and information that literally changes on a daily basis.

The question is, how many of these viral photos and new cases will we see as more schools begin to open?

Other than the obvious danger of students contracting the coronavirus, many concerns surround transmission to parents, grandparents, and at-risk teachers.
