Last fall, Kanye West stunned everyone when he canceled the remainder of his Saint Pablo tour and checked into a hospital for “temporary psychosis due to sleep deprivation and dehydration.” Most people were shocked by Yeezy's breakdown, but GLC, who was Kanye's childhood friend and past collaborator, says he saw it coming all along.

Speaking with the folks at Life & Style, GLC claims that he saw Yeezy's apparent mental breakdown coming after the death of his mother in 2007. He says the death of Donda West put Kanye in a "dark place" he hasn't been able to escape from—and he wasn't looking for GLC's help.

“I tried to rearrange his brain,” GLC tells the publication. “But he tried to snap on me.” GLC says he's noticed changes in Kanye when he watched the G.O.O.D. Music boss give interviews. “It’s like his body is there, but [not] his soul and his spirit,” GLC asserts. “It’s somewhere else.”

GLC, who was a pallbearer at Donda's funeral in 2007, goes on to say he tried to speak to Yeezy about refocusing on his mental health after his infamous stage-crashing of Taylor Swift at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. GLC tried his best, but he says Kanye "wasn't in a place to be receptive."

He also says he barely recognized Kanye when he appeared on the mother of his wife Kim Kardashian-West's talk show shortly after their marriage. He thought someone hypnotized the rapper, but isn't blaming the Kardashians. “I don’t know the Kardashian family, so I can’t blame them,” he says.

Last year, GLC wrote a letter apologizing to Kanye for failing to prevent "the users, leeches & yes men" out of Kanye's life. This past spring, GLC claimed that Yeezy equated White acceptance to success.
