Gordo is Back for New ‘Lizzie McGuire’ Series on Disney Plus
Lizzie McGuire is coming back like you've never seen her before in a new series for Disney+. And what would Lizzie be without her best friend Gordo? Good news is, we won't have to answer that question. Today it was announced that Adam Lamberg will be reprising his role as David "Gordo" Gordon. The series will take place in modern-day New York City, with Lizzie — played by 32-year-old Hilary Duff —navigating her way through the ups and downs of adult life as an assistant to a high scale interior designer. Pretty exciting stuff, right? As Duff mentions, the rest of Lizzie's original family will also be reprising their roles: Hallie Todd as Jo McGuire, Robert Carradine as Sam McGuire and Jake Thomas as Matt McGuire. In a new press release, Duff shares that including Gordo in the show was a no-brainer. "Gordo was an essential piece of the puzzle to what made the original 'Lizzie McGuire' so authentic and beloved," she states. "I couldn't imagine the series without him."
Terri Minsky, the original series creator, will return as showrunner and executive producer. Joining her as executive producers are Rachel Winter and Hilary Duff herself. Ranada Shepard will serve as the co-executive producer.
The Lizzie McGuire reboot began production earlier this month. After being apart for nearly 15 years now, we can't wait to see what dry witticisms Gordo will have to offer his bestie Lizzie in 2019.
