I think rain on Halloween night is worse than rain on Christmas morning. At least when it rains on Christmas you can still play with all of your inside toys until the weather has passed. If it rains on Halloween night there is no do-over.

If it's storming on Wednesday you'll just have to wait until next year to raid all the Kit Kats out of your kid's bag. Or you can just eat them out of the stash that you'll have leftover when no one comes to your door because of the rain.

Currently, forecast models don't offer a lot of confidence the ghosts, ghouls, and goblins will be walking in dry shoes around your neighborhood. The National Weather Service forecast holds an 80% probability of rain and thunderstorms on Wednesday night. But don't drop your pumpkins and start pouting just yet.

The timing on the arrival of the frontal system could make all the difference between a successful night of Trick-or-Treating or an evening of sitting at home staring at your empty bag while fake blood runs down your face.

Most communities in Acadiana have set Trick-or-Treat times anywhere from 5:30 to 8:00 PM. It is entirely possible the rain and storms could hold off until later in the evening. If that happens then it's great for everyone except those that were planning on some late night hijinx.

As of this morning, many of the forecast models do keep the rain out of Acadiana until very late Wednesday night into early Thursday morning. However, the timing on these weather systems can be fickle. Sometimes they move faster, sometimes they move slower so you will want to check back with us Wednesday for the latest Halloween forecast for where you'll be Trick-or-Treating.
