Harvard’s ‘Cajun Cuisine’ on TikTok Has Louisiana Gagged
A TikTok posted by user @jenyyngg has gone viral after she documented Harvard’s version of Cajun cuisine served in the dining hall. What was meant to be a campus meal tour turned into internet comedy gold, especially for anyone with a Louisiana address.
On the tray were:
“peppers and beans”
“cheesy grits”
something labeled “gumbo”
Cajun chicken
spicy “ah-kra” (okra)
The TikToker gave it all a taste test, rating the gumbo sausage 5/10, the okra 3/10, the cheesy grits 8/10, and the chicken 7/10. But her reviews were nothing compared to what the actual Cajuns of TikTok had to say.
“Not a Single Cajun Dish in Sight”
The comments section quickly filled with locals who were equal parts offended and entertained. The top comment with over 12,000 likes bluntly stated: “Not a single Cajun dish in sight btw.”
Another Louisiana user wrote, “As a person from Louisiana y’all need to sue for false advertisement! WTH is beans and peppers?? Why the grits look like queso?? That’s not gumbo. Ain’t nan season on that chicken! I’m mad for y’all!”
A few other reactions worth noting:
- “Those are NOT grits.”
- “The ‘Awkra’ was awkward.”
- “Whoever made those grits should be arrested.”
- “Is the Cajun food in the room with us?”
- “Harvard Law should be informed this food qualifies as defamation.”
Louisiana’s Verdict
From jokes about “gumbo on a plate” to cries of “Crying in Cajun,” locals agreed: nothing about Harvard’s cafeteria spread was authentic. One commenter summed it up best: “Tell Harvard don’t do that anymore.”

This is just the latest in a long line of videos that misrepresent Cajun food online. While it might make for entertaining content, Louisiana people are probably exhausted when they see this content coming.
In conclusion: Cajun food is a proud tradition, and you simply won’t find it at Harvard.
