Many in Acadiana were under a boil advisory during or after the winter storm of 2021.

Local officials urged all of us under the advisory to boil our water prior to consumption and that included those with water filters in their home.

Well, many of the advisories have since expired in Acadiana, but have you removed a certain item from your freezer at home or at work? Yes, I am talking about the ice in your freezer.

If you have an automatic ice maker in your freezer you may want to empty your ice tray out and let it re-fill itself now that the water in your area has been tested and is now safe to consume.

I bring this up because I too forgot to turn off my automatic ice maker at home while we were under a boil advisory and water that may have been contaminated was used to produce the ice that is now in my freezer.

While we may all be spring cleaning at home, it's probably a good idea to clean out the freezer after the advisory to keep you and your family safe.

In other news, I don't see any freezing temperatures in the extended forecast, thus spring-like weather is here. Let's enjoy.
